6 Creative Ideas to Open an Awesome Hair Salon

The beauty salon industry is growing steadily with an average annual rate increase of 3.2%. Experts predict the industry will be worth $58.7 billion by 2019. Salon clients place a high priority on luxury services including manicures, pedicures, and hair coloring. While there is a large demand for hair salons, the market is also very competitive.

Adopting creative tactics for your salon opening is key for a successful launch.

Partner with Local Photographers: Photographers love the opportunity to collaborate with local stylists and makeup artists for their shoots. Both partners will benefit from the promotion they gain when stylists credit the photographers for the shots they publish.

Post Photos Online Regularly: Choose varied, high quality photos, and post them on your website, social media accounts, and email newsletters on a regular basis. New customers visiting your website for the first time and regular customers browsing their social media feeds alike will see your latest content.

Throw Contests: Throwing a contest in which customers must follow your salon on social media, or even better, submit testimonials or photo or video content, may prove invaluable for your business. Make the prize meaningful for your customers, such as a free haircut or full size free product.

Hold a Public Promotion: Keep an eye out for community events, such as sidewalk sales, festivals, and 5K runs, where you can advertise your salon and offer free services or samples. Bring trial sizes of your hottest products, offer free cuts or bang trims, and hand out discount coupons for future services.

Send Materials to New Residents: Send utility materials to people who are new to the area don’t have a regular salon yet. Seek out apartment and condo complexes that provide new resident packets and ask them to have your materials in them. Including a coupon for a complementary service on a weekday will be a great idea.

Offer Daily deals Use social media or email to offer daily deals that are only good the same day you post them. Customers are more likely to subscribe to your content so they don’t miss a deal that meets their needs.
